information technology is People + Computers

My early research in hypertext and multimedia learning environments has evolved over the years into my current work with dynamic database-backed web sites and web applications. I am currently creating an XML syntax-based Web App Development System as an abstraction layer on top of the programming and database work that makes such sites possible. Connected to this work on the web is an interest in online communities and the virtual worlds they represent. Recently I've been doing a lot of research and development in the area of Virtual Reality. I am on record as predicting that this is "the next big thing."

For much of my career I was involved in medical and dental informatics. That work led to issues of visualization and user interface and interaction design. I also have a strong background and interest in using technology as a tool for education. Recently I've been developing online versions of my courses, and an online lecture authoring and delivery tool to support that.
