Dr. Tom Oh is a Professor of iSchool at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) since 2008.  His research focus has been Vehicular Area Networks, Data Acquisition and Analytics, Mobile Device Security, Internet of Things (IoT) Security, Sensor Networks and Assistive Technology (Smart Cane).   He has over 18 years of experience in networking and telecommunication as an engineer and researcher for several telecom and defense companies. Dr. Oh received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1991 and received MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering (Computer Networks) from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in 1995 and 2001, respectively, while working for telecommunication and defense companies.

Before he joined RIT, he was a Principal Systems Engineer at Rockwell Collins where he was leading the advanced architecture development of mobile ad-hoc networks for military applications. Additionally, he led/supported OPNET modeling and simulation team for secret projects and actively pursued funding from DARPA, Air Force Research Lab, and Army Research Lab. Before Rockwell, he worked for Ceterus Networks, Ericsson, Nortel Networks and Raytheon.

He has published numerous technical articles and holds several patents as well as several awards from Nortel and Ericsson. While at RIT, he has received funding from Office of Naval Research, Safe and Secure Mobile, Electronics and Telecommunication Research Institute, Department of Defense, Rochester General Hospital, and American Packaging Corporation.
